Artist talk: Today We Printed Nothing
by Eri Funazaki & Danny Flynn
Eri Funazaki and Danny Flynn will talk about their new collaborative artist bookwork ‘Unnecessaries’.
The book comprises droll sayings by Flynn professed in the manner of an individual’s resignation after the occurrence of disappointing events.
‘Today I changed the world but it changed right back.
The planet shifted on its axis while I lay flat on my back.’
Funazaki’s illustrations show disparate planets. Removed from their orbits, freely stacked, tightly scattered or loosely grouped, new formations are created.
The book is intended as a humoured offering, a salve to all those processing and dealing with things that have happened beyond their control.
Flynn and Funazakin will talk about the time-consuming production method of letterpress composition and how it sustained the opportunity for creative changes whilst in the making.
